About Us
STAHR - Suzuki Teachers Association Of Hampton Roads
STAHR's mission is to help foster a community of support for the teachers and families who study the Suzuki Method in the southeastern region of Virginia.
Through the efforts of local teachers and with the support of parents, events are planned throughout the year to give students opportunities to perform together, develop relationships and share their music with the community.
History
What began as a twinkle in the private studio of Norfolk-based Suzuki violin teacher Anne Bugg, grew into an organization that offers a variety of events. Students can be seen on main stages, in lobbies of major performance halls, playing for area arts festivals, charitable organizations, and nursing homes.
STAHR's Annual Suzuki Workshop has run continually since the late 1980's. With 501(c)(3) non-profit status acquired in 2003, the organization expanded its projects as well as expanding the annual workshop which now includes cello, fiddle, and chamber music.
